Luther South Junior High strives for high achievements on standardized tests. With a belief in "sticking with the basics," we also seek to keep pace with modern technology by integrating computer training at all grade levels. Luther South Junior High offers a strong academic curriculum to prepare students for high school and college. The most important aspect of any academic program is the teaching staff. Luther South Junior High has teachers willing to go beyond the call of duty to make a difference in students' lives. Instructors are dedicated Christians with strong academic credentials and the ability to communicate truth to their students. In addition to classroom work, each teacher is available as tutor, mentor, counselor, cheerleader, and sounding board.

The mission of Luther South has always been directed toward the spiritual and academic preparation of the student. God's love in Jesus Christ shows us the importance of each student in God's sight. It is our task to help each student reach full potential. This means growth in faith and in Christian life. It also means a complete education. We believe that an academic education is the best type of training to meet the challenges in a world where changes in technology bring repeated changes in vocational opportunities.

Students use a standard-size gymnasium, computer lab, art room, library with internet access, and a large cafeteria. Spanish and music are taught by teachers specializing in these subjects.

Accelerated Reader!

The Accelerated Reader program is known nationally for its ability to motivate students to read and to help them develop a love for reading. Eighth graders at Luther South Junior High read an average of about 20 books per student per year!

Academic Activities

Yearly science/learning fairs, math competition, spelling competition, field trips, Channel 1 daily news program, Jr. Hi National Honor Society, academics afield.
