Luther South: Education for the mind and spirit. College Preparatory High School and Junior High School
Spiritual Life

Luther High School South was founded over 50 years ago from a desire to encourage young people to continue a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ. That remains our driving commitment today. At Luther High School South we foster a caring Christian community in an urban setting. Our goal is to permeate our faith throughout everything we do at Luther South.

We have Theology classes, chapel services, encourage church attendance on Sunday and spiritual extra-curricular groups, but we strive to model a faith which is part of all of life. We work to incorporate God’s truth as revealed in the Bible into everything we do. We want to spiritually strengthen and nurture the Christian student while also providing opportunities for the seeds of faith to grow within students who do not know God as their Savior.

We pray that our students will see their entire lives - whether it’s church, basketball, or taking out the trash - as something that glorifies God. We are also committed to teaching students to lead by serving. We offer regular opportunities for students to serve including a volunteer program, community visitation, gospel choir and Higher Ground Team as well as events such as 30 Hour Famine.

“Anyone can observe the Sabbath, but making it holy surely takes the rest of the week.”
