Luther South: Education for the mind and spirit. College Preparatory High School and Junior High School
Alumnae

Preserving our Past...Ensuring our Future

As Alumni and friends of Luther South we fondly remember...

  • The 1980 State Basketball Championship
  • Speech Team victories throughout the 70's
  • Up and down staircases to accommodate 1000+ students in the 60's
  • Creation of the original school song in the 50's
  • and, of course, elevator passes, pool passes and freshman orientation dances.

As Luther High School South looks back on its first half-century, we realize that the innumerable accomplishments, accolades and rewards we enjoy are the result of hard work, vision and God's grace. We have responded to the needs of the times without ever losing our commitment to Christian education and academic excellence.

Without the generosity and sacrifice of others, we wouldn't have enjoyed the privilege of attending Luther South. Now it is our turn. As graduates, parents and friends, let's set Luther South on a path to a brilliant future. Luther High School South is at a turning point. We must assure our future by carrying forth the founding ideals of our school and applying them to our current realities. We know that this is not a vision that can be carried on the shoulders of a few.

We look to you, knowing that our mission and ministry are worthy of your commitment and generosity. Just as our school came be was built from the investment and involvement of those who believed in the value of Lutheran education on the south side of Chicago, so must our future be assured with similar dedication and commitment from those who know Luther South best.
