DramaDrama productions are open to all students who meet current eligibility requirements. Students who are interested in acting and singing on stage are encouraged to audition. There are also many behind-the-scenes duties for other students who wish to become involved. Gospel ChoirStudents who love to sing the praises of the Lord are all invited to join Gospel Choir. There are no auditions but students must meet school eligibility requirements, be present at rehearsals, and commit to performances. Higher GroundHigher Ground is a special program for any student who is interested in a church-related career. This program features field trips to ministry sites throughout the Chicago area. There are also special presentations by representative church professionals. The program also includes an annual retreat, other fellowship activities and special Theology classes National Honor SocietyAdmission to the National Honor Society is an honor to Juniors and Seniors of academic achievement. Selection is made by a 5-member National Honor Society Faculty Committee based onrecommendations from the entire faculty. A candidate must have and maintain a 3.000 or better cumulative grade point average, show responsibility, punctuality and behavior (often reflected in the Demerit System) along with high quality effort in character, leadership and service. Poetry ClubStudents who wish to express themselves through original poetry or through expressive readings of poets are invited to join the Poetry Club. Praise Dance GroupPraise Dance Group is open to all students who meet current eligibility requirements. Students who are interested in using their dancing talents to praise the Lord in chapel and outside church activities are encouraged to join. School AidesStudent Aides are chosen by teachers in each department to assist with various activities pertaining to each department. Students must be eligible to be appointed. Responsibilities are determined by the teacher in charge and the teacher or Principal may revoke an aiding privilege at any time. Only one aide per period for a teacher is allowed. Science ClubScience Club is open to all students who are interested in any aspect of science. Students will participate in World of Wonder, take trips, and meet to discuss various topics. ScholarsSophomores, Juniors, and Seniors are invited to join this group based on G.P.A. and class rank. Approximately thirty students are invited on a yearly basis to participate in additional learning experiences outside of regular academic classes. ShieldThe school yearbook staff is chosen in the spring of the year from those students who have shown an interest in this area. Student CouncilStudent Council members will be made up of four officers and two class representatives from each class. Sophomores, juniors and seniors will be elected by their respective classmates. The freshmen class officers will be elected by faculty. Student Council is responsible for various social functions in the school including homecoming and dances. Student Council is also responsible for promoting school spirit, school community service and school leadership. Spanish ClubAll students who enroll is Spanish are invited to join The Spanish Club. Students meet for educational and social activities which promote interest in Spanish and an awareness of Hispanic Culture WYSEStudents involved in WYSE are Juniors and Seniors chosen to compete on a testing level in the following subjects: Math, Biology, Computers, Engineering, Graphics, Physics, English, and Chemistry.
